Embassy of Tanzania in Russia to host Mustafa Hassanali’s “MUUNGANO COLLECTION”

As Tanzania Celebrates its 50 Years of  union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar on 26^th April 2014, Mustafa Hassanali’s, Tanzania’s pan African designer has been invited by the Embassy of Tanzania in Moscow as a designer to showcase his creation during Tanzania Day, an event to celebrate this Milestone moment.

“I am very honoured by this invitation from our Embassy in Russia and I look forward to being an ambassador of art, culture and fashion for Tanzania whilst using this opportunity to strengthen the culture ties between Tanzania and Russia as we celebrate 50 years of the Union” stated Mustafa Hassanali.

Mustafa Hassanali has showcased his work in 26 cities in 17 countries globally and Now Moscow becomes his 27^th city and Russia 18^th Country.  As we celebrate the Union of Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar. The collection is aptly named MUUNGANO, Swahili word for union. “We shall not only Celebrate 50 years of Union of mainland and Zanzibar, but also that union of our souls to this great nation by expressing ones creativity, culture, and Spirit.” Added Hassanali.

Being a One Nation, The MUUNGANO collection showcased shall see the fusion of Harmony using various shades of the base colour brown, synonymous the colour of the sand which was symbolically used by Mwalimu Nyerere, in the formation of the United Republic of Tanzania, The union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Khanga, Tanzania cultural fabric has been mixed in various hues to bring out the sophistication, simplicity and glamour that brings about a show that is distinctively Mustafa Hassanali yet Summing up Tanzania.

 “I shall present my collection on 26 April during the Tanzania Day to the Business and International community living in Russia. This will be my Third showcase in Europe after Italy and Sweden, whereby by in Stockholm I was Guest designer in 2011 to Celebrate 50 years of Independence of Tanzania Mainland being hosted by Embassy of Tanzania in Sweden. I am so looking forward to a great response of my work and that of Tanzania from the Russian community at large.” Concluded Hassanali.
